Why You Should Pin to Different Boards
When you’re new to Pinterest, it can be a little overwhelming for some – What should you pin? What are boards? What kind of board should you create? Isn’t it just easier to keep a couple boards, and post everything on them?
The simple answer? No.
If you haven’t realized it already, you can have a LOT of fun, and spend a lot of time on Pinterest. There are SO many great things you’re going to want to pin. And after your first couple hundred pins, it starts getting difficult to refer back to a specific pin, unless you have it saved to a corresponding board.
The more specialized your interest, the more specific your boards (or categories) should be. For example, someone who only occasionally steps foot in the kitchen, could probably get away with one board for Recipes to Try. I, on the other hand, LOVE to cook, and try new recipes. One board is just not enough for me – I’d have several thousand pins on it, and I’d have to dig through a lot to find the pin I want. So, I needed to divide recipes into more specific boards: Happenin’ Appetizers, Dish on the Side, Sweet Treats, Brunch, and Food.
Another example is Horoscope/Astrological pins. Most people may choose to pin something related to their sign, and can get by with one board. But an astrologer will go in-depth on all the astrological signs, and should have a board for each sign.
A physical trainer may have multiple boards that target each area (tummy, thighs, arms, etc.) with pins featuring exercises for each target area. See where we're going here?
So when you’re using Pinterest for business – remember, the more specialized your knowledge/interest, the more specific you should make your boards.
